National Race Team

Prime Powerteam is built around our National Race Team, competing across North America in Briggs and Rotax classes. As one of the largest and most competitive teams, Prime regularly secures podiums and race wins at major events. We provide team support, coaching, tuning, transportation and more — delivering professional preparation and obsessive attention to detail so our drivers get the best chance at success.

Driver Development

Driver development is at the heart of Prime Powerteam. Our coaching staff works with drivers of all experience levels, helping them refine technique, racecraft, consistency and mental approach. Our coaches have developed multiple national champions and mentored drivers of all levels including helping transitioning from karts into professional car racing, including alumni such as Robert Wickens, Patrick Woods-Toth and Mac Clark. Whether during weekly training or major race weekends, Prime delivers structured, high-level development tailored to each driver’s goals.

Karts

Prime Powerteam proudly offers a full lineup of Birel ART and Red Speed (OTK) chassis for both 4-stroke and 2-stroke competition. These two iconic brands give drivers the flexibility to choose the platform that best suits their driving style and class. With proven success at regional, national and international levels, our kart lineup represents premium performance, reliability and championship-winning pedigree.

Engines

Prime Powerteam is an authorized distributor for Briggs & Stratton and Rotax Max Evo engines, offering complete engine packages and full parts support. We partner with elite engine builders — Aurum Racing Engines for Rotax and Super Speed for Briggs — to deliver proven, front-running power for every major race event. Engine rental programs, event support and performance consulting are available for drivers seeking top-level competitive advantage.

Parts & Service

Prime Powerteam carries one of the most complete kart-parts inventories in Canada, supporting Birel ART, OTK/Tony Kart and a wide range of universal components. From REV performance materials, Xeramic lubricants, Vega & Mojo tires, Freeline components, tools and data systems to driver gear and accessories — Prime is fully stocked to keep drivers on track and competitive. Our service department provides professional repairs, chassis tuning, engine maintenance and full workshop support to ensure every kart performs at its peak.

The Track

Prime Powerteam is proud to call Hamilton Karting Complex home — an ASN-certified 1.1 km, 14-turn race circuit known for hosting some of Canada’s most prestigious karting events. With a demanding layout featuring technical corners, and multiple passing zones, the track is the ideal training environment for both aspiring and elite drivers. It serves as our year-round development ground and a cornerstone of our program, helping drivers elevate their skills in a professional, competition-ready setting.

Prime Powerteam, Everything Karting Under One Roof

At Prime Powerteam, we eat, sleep, and breathe karting. Our national race team is one of the largest in Canada. Our kart shop stocks everything you could possibly need, and we are a leading Birel ART & Red Speed (OTK) kart dealer.

We are based in Hamilton, ON, with our shop conveniently located on-site at the Hamilton Karting Complex (Canadian Mini Indy). Our full-service shop offers mechanic assistance, and our team is dedicated to helping you progress in the sport. Each year, in collaboration with Canadian Mini Indy, we award scholarships to promising drivers who have excelled in the rookie series and are ready to advance their careers.

Founded in 2012 and led by Trevor Wickens, our team, managed by Ken O'Keefe, operates with a distinctive approach that sets us apart.

We combine driver feedback, data acquisition, and experienced coaches to ensure accuracy and continuous progress, not just for a single race weekend but throughout a driver’s career. Engine tuners and coaches are provided, and team data is shared to ensure everyone is aligned and has equal opportunities.

Driver Development

We pride ourselves on our commitment to Driver Development. Our alumni includes current USF PRO 2000 competitor Mac Clark as well as FR Americas driver Patrick Woods-Toth. Previous drivers that have graduated from Karts to Cars with Prime include Robert Wickens (IndyCar, DTM) , Kyle Marcelli (IMSA, Grand-AM), Luke Chudleigh (Formula Renault 2.0L)
