A lightning delay sent the racers back to the pits, and as the rain began to pour down on the Hamilton Karting Complex, the track conditions turned treacherous.

After a 20-minute delay, the drivers returned to the grid, now faced with a wet track and the need for rain tires. The lights went out, and the race was on.
