When the Pai family joined Prime Powerteam at the start of 2025, they instantly felt like they’d been with us forever. Mateo is the full package: lightning-fast on track, hilarious under the tent, and backed by a dad who keeps our group chat buzzing with jokes, setups, and the now-famous “Wayne Setup.” They’ve brought talent, energy, and a whole lot of fun to the team this season.
We first met Mateo back in February at the RMC Winter Trophy. He showed flashes of speed but left with a tough P18 in the Championship. Instead of getting discouraged, he came back hungrier. That determination is what makes him who he is—never afraid to chase races, no matter the distance. The Pais are known for their wild travel stories, including weekends where they’ve driven 30+ hours just to make a double-header, with Mateo sleeping in the car on the way home and walking into school Monday morning like nothing happened.
Next up was RMC West in Phoenix, where Mateo really introduced himself to the Rotax world. Day one was rocky, but by race two he showed exactly what he’s capable of—winning the pre-final and the final. That set the tone for the rest of his Canadian campaign.
In Canada, Mateo raced everywhere a ticket was on offer, taking part in the RMC Ontario and Quebec series as well as the Rotax Canada Final in Edmonton. At the Canada Final, he continued to show his raw pace, qualifying on pole for Race 1 and scoring two podium finishes over the weekend. He ultimately ended up P3 in the Championship—just short of his goal of a Grand Finals ticket.

In the RMC Quebec series, Mateo started strong with a P2 finish at Round 1 in Mont Tremblant and P6 at Round 2 in Icar. RMC Ontario is where Mateo really shone, winning back-to-back rounds at our home track in Hamilton. His momentum carried into the big events, where he finished P2 at the Canadian Nationals and P2 again at the Canadian Open just last weekend.
Those consistent results, paired with his raw pace, earned Mateo the RMC Ontario Mini-Max championship and his well-deserved ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals in Bahrain.

Traveling is nothing new for the Pai family, and we can’t wait to hear the stories from his adventures to Bahrain. Mateo—you’ve worked hard for this. Head down, don’t be afraid to make those overtakes, and know that your whole Prime Powerteam family will be cheering you on in Bahrain. Bring it home! …. TEO!
