RMC Winter Trophy Recap

We just wrapped up an incredible two weeks at the 2025 RMC Winter Trophy in Florida, and what a fantastic event it was! With close to 200 entries representing over 10 different countries, the competition was fierce as drivers battled for the coveted Grand Finals tickets. Prime Powerteam was proud to field a strong lineup of drivers across Micro, Mini, Junior, and Senior categories, representing Canada, France, the UK, and Ireland.

Challenging Conditions & Strong Performances

We arrived early, setting up on the Tuesday of week one, only to be greeted by uncharacteristically cold and rainy weather for Florida. The tricky conditions made it challenging for our drivers to get up to speed and comfortable with the track. However, as the competition progressed, the weather turned in our favor with dry racing conditions, and by week two, the Florida sun finally made an appearance.

Overall, our team delivered strong performances and valuable development. Several of our drivers gained crucial experience as they tackled Rotax racing for the first time—perfect preparation for the upcoming Canadian season.

Micro Max: Young Stars Show Their Grit

Micro Max racing was full of excitement, as our youngest competitors proved that the future of the sport is in great hands. Prime Powerteam had three impressive drivers: Lincoln Lima, Yousef Adi, and newcomer Kory Lyons from Ireland.

  • Lincoln Lima: Lincoln shined throughout the championship, finishing P10 overall. He delivered standout performances, just missing the podium with a P4 in race 3 and securing P6 in race 4.
  • Yousef Adi: Competing in Rotax for the first time at the challenging Orlando Kart Center, Yousef showed impressive progress and held his own against talented drivers. He’ll be one to watch this summer.
  • Kory Lyons: Kory quickly became a tent favorite with his feisty yet sweet demeanor (and a mild obsession with cheese balls!). On track, he saved his best for last, delivering a fantastic P9 finish in the final race.

Mini Max: Rising Stars on the Podium

In Mini Max, we were thrilled to welcome two new faces: James Roots from the UK and Mateo Pai from Western Canada.

  • James Roots: James made his intentions clear from the start, setting pole for races 1 and 2 and winning race 3. Despite a crash in the final race that dashed his ticket hopes, James was rapid throughout the championship and left a lasting impression. Remember his name—he has a bright future in the sport.
  • Mateo Pai: Mateo made steady progress throughout the series and left Florida as a stronger driver, gaining invaluable experience.

Junior Max: Development and Determination

Our Junior Max lineup featured Prime regulars Jackson Morley, Leo Serravalle, and Ava Cabral, along with UK driver Riley Cranham.

  • Riley Cranham: Riley was a force to be reckoned with, constantly fighting at the front. Unfortunately post race penalties cost him his chance at a ticket, in race 3 he finished P2 on track but was demoted to p12 with penalties and in race 4 he won the race on track but penalties pushed him down to p18. His determination and talent were evident, and we look forward to seeing him earn that Grand Finals ticket and shine on the big stage.
  • Jackson Morley: Jackson showed great pace despite challenging qualifying sessions. He fought his way up the grid multiple times, including a drive from 30th to 15th in race 2 and 21st to 8th in race 3.
  • Leo Serravalle & Ava Cabral: Both Leo and Ava focused on learning and development as they prepared for their first full season of Junior 2-stroke racing. They rapidly improved their pace and gained valuable wheel-to-wheel experience, setting the stage for a strong summer season.

Senior Max: Veteran Skill Meets Bold New Talent

In Senior Max, we had a blend of seasoned drivers including Paul Fourquemin from France and Arnaud Sabourin as well as developing talents in Dylan Ludwig, and Yannis Illias.

  • Paul Fourquemin: Paul demonstrated exceptional racecraft throughout the event and was always a threat to move through the field.
  • Arnaud Sabourin: Arnaud consistently showcased front-running pace, including qualifying first in his group for race 3 and securing top-10 finishes in all four races.
  • Yannis Illias: Made the bold jump from Briggs LO206 Junior to Rotax Senior, he embraced the challenge and gained valuable experience, setting the foundation for future success.
  • Dylan Ludwig: Joined us from Western Canada for Round 1 and showed a never quit attitude and was eager to put in the work to improve his craft

Looking Ahead

While we didn’t walk away with any Grand Finals tickets this time, the RMC Winter Trophy was a fantastic event filled with excellent racing, valuable development, and unforgettable moments. We’re proud of our drivers and their progress over the two weeks.

Next up, we head further west to take on the RMC West Trophy in Phoenix. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting racing action from Prime Powerteam!
