This weekend, Prime Powerteam heads to Shannonville Motorsport Park to take on one of the most iconic events in Canadian karting—the KartStars National Championship, also known as the legendary Bear Hunt.
While this is our first time attending the event as a team, the history and prestige of the Bear Trophy is something we’re well aware of. For many of our drivers, this will also mark their first time racing at Shannonville, adding another layer of challenge—and excitement—to an already stacked weekend.
Tight Schedule, Big Opportunity
It’s a fast-paced format with move-in and Thursday practice, followed by a limited number of sessions Friday morning before qualifying kicks off late in the day. With just 11 on-track sessions to learn and tune for a new circuit, preparation and adaptability will be critical—but if there’s one thing our team knows how to do, it’s work together and rise to the occasion.
And this event won’t be decided in a single race. With qualifying, three heat races, a pre-final, and a final, it’s a weekend full of high-stakes racing that will crown the newest Bear champions—adding their name to one of the most respected traditions in Canadian karting.
Prime Powerteam Lineup
We’re heading into battle with a strong, well-rounded lineup of determined racers across multiple classes:
Briggs Junior
- Kaden Malik and Cole Campin have been fast and consistent all year long. They’re both legitimate threats in any race they enter, and if they play it smart and work together through the heats, we expect them to be right in the fight come Final time.
Briggs Senior
We’re coming in with depth and firepower:
- Mitchell Morrow, David Barnes, Logan Pacza, and Owen McCarthy—our “Big Four”—have all shown they know how to win. You can count on them to be right in the mix for podiums and potentially the Bear Trophy itself.
- Grayson MacDonald is improving every race weekend and could very well be a surprise factor in the final.
- Nathan Wilkie and Anouk Cybulskie, both rookies in Briggs Senior, have made great progress and are ready to keep pushing forward on this new challenge.
Briggs Cadet
- Damian Stirling has been climbing the ranks steadily this year, turning podium finishes into a habit. Can he keep it rolling at Shannonville? We certainly believe so.
Let the Hunt Begin
New track. Big trophies. Huge opportunity.
We’re proud of the work our drivers and team have put in to prepare for this event, and we can’t wait to see them take on the challenge of Shannonville. It’s never easy learning a new circuit in such a tight window, but with experience, dedication, and teamwork, we’re confident our drivers will rise to the occasion.
Good luck to everyone under the tent. Let’s go Bear hunting.
