Karting is work.
There is simply no way around it.
Sure, it’s an incredible amount of fun—we wouldn’t dedicate our lives to this sport otherwise—but competing at the highest levels of karting demands commitment from everyone involved. It takes our drivers pushing themselves every lap, mechanics working long into the evenings, parents making sacrifices every single weekend, team managers coordinating every detail, and our engine partners providing the performance we need. Success is never the result of one person. It is built by an entire team working toward the same goal.
The travel gets exhausting. The testing days can feel endless. There are setbacks, frustrations, mechanical issues, and races that don’t go the way you planned. Every team in the paddock is working hard and searching for every last tenth of a second.
Then you have a weekend like the Canadian Open.
Suddenly you remember exactly why you do it.
Those long days become worthwhile. The sacrifices make sense. The celebrations with your team are something you’ll never forget.
Before talking about the racing itself, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to every driver who gives everything they have on track. Thank you to every mechanic whose work often goes unseen. Thank you to our team managers, our engine partners, our parents, and every supporter who believes in what we’re building. You are all a huge part of this team, and these results belong to every one of you.
Going into every race weekend, we know we have talented drivers and the equipment capable of winning. But this sport has no guarantees. Every team is pushing to the absolute limit, and that is what makes weekends like this so special. When everything comes together, it is something worth celebrating.
We’ve been building toward this all season. There have been plenty of strong performances along the way, but it feels like this team is beginning to hit its stride at exactly the right time.
The Canadian Open is one of the most prestigious events on the Canadian karting calendar. Performing well here is always meaningful, but perhaps even more importantly, it gives us momentum heading into one of the biggest stretches of the season.
August is packed with major events:
- August 2 – RMC US Trophy Final
- August 5-9 – RMC Western Final
- August 6-9 – KartFest (KartStars Nationals / BSC Ontario)
- August 13-16 – Canadian Karting Championships
If this weekend is any indication, we’re excited for what’s still to come.
Mini Max
We only had two drivers competing in Mini Max, but quality always outweighs quantity.
Yousef Adi was simply phenomenal.
After claiming Super Pole, Yousef went on to win all three heats and the Prefinal, establishing himself as the driver to beat all weekend. Heading into the Final, he understood the bigger picture. After already winning the first three rounds of RMC Ontario, all he needed was a strong finish to secure both the RMC Ontario Championship and his ticket to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.
He delivered exactly that.
A smart, mature drive to second place was all that was required to clinch the championship and earn his place on Team Canada for Portugal. We couldn’t be prouder.
Lincoln Lima also showed impressive speed throughout the weekend. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on his side, but his pace continues to improve every event. He’s making tremendous progress, and there are still opportunities left this season to secure his own Grand Finals ticket.
Junior Max
The Junior category delivered another outstanding weekend for Prime Powerteam.
Olivier Chassé was every bit as dominant as Yousef had been in Mini. He claimed Super Pole and swept all three heat races with incredible pace. The Prefinal didn’t quite unfold the way he wanted, but he still lined up well for the Final and fought his way to an excellent second-place finish.
Stefano Lanzillotta saved his very best performance for when it mattered most.
Stefano captured the Canadian Open victory with an outstanding drive in the Final. After earning a podium at last year’s Canadian Open, this year’s victory is another huge milestone. Congratulations, Bo—let’s keep the momentum rolling.
Across the rest of our Junior program, the progress continues to be exciting. Junior Max is a tough class, and every driver took positive steps forward throughout the weekend.
A special mention goes to Marley, who dug deep after a difficult start to the event. In the Final he showed tremendous pace, battling towards the top five before a late incident shuffled him back. The result doesn’t fully reflect the speed he showed, and we’re excited to see that pace continue through the remainder of the season.
Senior Max
What can you even say about Senior Max?
Simply incredible.
Ryan Maxwell captured the Canadian Open victory while also securing his second consecutive RMC Ontario Championship.
Ryan will once again represent Team Canada at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, and we cannot wait to see what he accomplishes on the world stage.
But perhaps the most impressive statistic from the weekend was the overall strength of our Senior program.
Five Prime Powerteam drivers started the Final.
All five finished inside the top nine.
In one of the deepest and most competitive Senior fields in Canada, that is an achievement the entire team should be proud of.
DD2
Arnaud Sabourin rounded out an unforgettable weekend by taking victory in DD2.
Arnaud was outstanding from start to finish, showing speed, consistency, and composure throughout the entire event. It was a well-deserved win and the perfect way to cap off an incredible weekend for the team.
