With the completion of RMC Ontario Round 1 last weekend, Prime Powerteam has now officially wrapped up the first round of all three major championships we’re competing in this season: KartStars Canada, RMC Ontario, and RMC Quebec. Each championship consists of four rounds, and with the opening events behind us, we’re taking a moment to reflect on how things are shaping up before we dive into the second half of the season.
KartStars Canada – Round 1 at Goodwood
The KartStars series kicked off at Goodwood Kartways, a technical and often challenging track—particularly for drivers who haven’t raced there much. For many of our Briggs competitors, this was their first major event at the circuit, so we approached the weekend with managed expectations. Despite that, the team adapted well and came away with strong results across multiple classes.
In Briggs Senior, Logan Pacza led the charge for Prime, securing pole position, winning the pre-final, and finishing third in the final. His consistent performance puts him in the lead of the Briggs Senior championship heading into Round 2. David Barnes also put in a strong performance and currently sits seventh overall in the standings.
Barnes also impressed in KartStars Senior, where he currently holds third in the championship after a competitive showing in Round 1.
Goodwood can be a cruel track and we expect a big bounce back in round 2 especially from some of our experienced drivers like Owen McCarthy and Mitchell Morrow who are always a threat in every race they enter.
In KartStars Junior, Kaden Malik leads the group in P7, with Cole Campin close behind in P10, and Jackson Corbett in P13. With Round 2 heading to Mosport—a track that many of our drivers know well—we’re expecting to see further improvement. Campin, in particular, used to call Mosport home and has momentum after back-to-back wins in Hamilton, and Corbett has been on a hot streak, recently winning both the HRKC Race 5 and the Dash. Malik has been consistently fast this year and will be one to watch at Mosport.
RMC Quebec – Round 1 at Mont-Tremblant
While we didn’t bring a large team to Mont-Tremblant for Round 1 of RMC Quebec, the drivers who made the trip made their efforts count.
In Junior Rotax, Jackson Morley delivered a clean sweep—taking the win in both the pre-final and final. He leaves Tremblant with the championship lead in hand.
In Mini Max, Mateo Pai and Lincoln Lima both had strong outings, finishing second and third on the podium, respectively. They now sit tied for second in the championship, just five points behind the leader.
Looking ahead to Round 2 at ICAR, it will be a new challenge for Morley, Pai, and Lima, as none of them have previously raced there. That said, they’ve proven their ability to adapt quickly, and with support from our coaching staff, we’re confident they’ll be up to speed in time. In Senior Rotax, Arnaud Sabourin had great pace throughout the weekend but was hit with some bad luck in the races. A clean weekend at ICAR could see him bounce back in a big way.
RMC Ontario – Round 1 at Hamilton
The opening round of the RMC Ontario championship took place on home turf at Hamilton, and once again, it was our Mini Max and Junior Rotax drivers who shone brightest.
In Mini Max, Mateo Pai took the win and leads the championship standings. Carlo Lot was another standout, running at the front in nearly every session throughout the weekend and currently sits second overall. Lincoln Lima also had a solid weekend and is fourth in the championship, giving us four drivers inside the top five heading into Round 2.
Junior Rotax saw Jackson Morley take the win in the final, though a difficult Super Heat cost him valuable points. He currently sits third in the standings, with Ryker Magro just behind in fourth, thanks to an impressive drive in the final. Both Theodoropoulos and Lanzilotta were fast all weekend but got caught in the chaos of the final and ended their weekend with a DNF. With Round 2 staying in Hamilton—but switching to the classic layout that they know so well—both are expected to be strong contenders.
In Senior Rotax, Arnaud Sabourin currently sits in tenth overall. As last year’s RMC Ontario champion, there’s every reason to expect he’ll come back fighting in the next round.
Looking Ahead
Round 2 of the season kicks off with KartStars Canada at Mosport on June 27–28, followed by RMC Quebec Round 2 at ICAR, and then RMC Ontario Round 2 back in Hamilton. With our drivers gaining confidence, experience, and momentum, we’re looking forward to some big performances in the coming weeks.
